Is "ugly" a reason for tearing down a 29-story, structurally stable office tower? While anon's personal taste won't favor the preservation of the Cleveland Trust Tower, I'd like to understand the reason behind not favoring the alteration or re-skinning of the Tower's surface, at the very least.
This decade's personal tastes aside, I have a hard time swallowing the disposal of a 380 ft. building (built only thirty years ago) and shunning the opportunity for millions of County dollars to support a largely-local preservation and reconstruction effort... as opposed to a new complex investing a much larger percentage in foreign material costs (e.g. steel).

Why would you want to save this ugly building? Now the Rotunda I can understand.

should be up and running soon...
i'm just wondering why the dialogue on removing the rotunda has never been raised... it doesn't have very efficient floor plates for county offices...
This building is an eyesore. The building is inefficient and poorly designed. There's a reason it's been vacant for so long.
